My favorite
class this semester is called Audiovisual Language. In this class we are taught
to use audiovisual equipment (cameras, microphones, etc.) so that we may be
able to produce our own films/shows with this equipment.
In terms of
the camera, we learn about the different shots that exist, as well as the
angles and movements that one can use. In terms of sound, we learn about the
different types of microphones that exist and about the best way to get the
sound that one is looking for. Once we learn the essentials about this equipment,
we learn about the different programs that can be used in the postproduction of
a movie or show, about editing and synchronizing the material.
I like this
class because it is dynamic, it is a class where we learn many different things
and it is hands-on. Also, knowing how to use this equipment is a very important
tool for a career in communications in the modern day. Lastly, these classes
are also useful outside of the University if one has personal projects.
